Finding your website configuration details

If you are unsure on how to do any of the steps below, please get in touch as we will be happy to help,

To backup your website we will need to make sure the following is enabled.

  1. SSH for SFTP 
  2. If connecting directly to the database server you need to make sure port 3306 is open for remote connections

You will want to check with your web host that both of these are enabled and you have the correct username and password for the SSH service.

WordPress / woocommerce

WordPress / woocommerce -  The database details are stored in the web root of the joomla install in a file called wp-config.php

This file can be viewed in either your FTP or if the website is hosted on a cpanel or Plesk server you can use the online file manager.
Once you have opened the wp_config.php file you need to look for the following

You will need the username and password for the database when completing the website backup setup process.

Joomla

Joomla - The database details are stored in the web root of the joomla install in a file called configuration.php

Once you have opened the configuration.php file you need to look for the following

Magento

The database details are stored in the /app/etc/ folder of the magento install in a file called local.xml
This file can be viewed in either your FTP or if the website is hosted on a cpanel or Plesk server you can use the online file manager.
Once you have opened the local.xml file you need to look for the following
Magento db config 1

You will need the username and password for the database when completing the website backup setup process.

Magento 2
The database details are stored in the /app/etc/ folder of the magento2 install in a file called env.php
This file can be viewed in either your FTP or if the website is hosted on a cpanel or Plesk server you can use the online file manager.
Once you have opened the env.php file you need to look for the following

You will need the username and password for the database when completing the website backup setup process.

Drupal

The database details are stored in the /sites/default/ folder of the drupal install in a file called settings. php

Change the Database Connection in Drupal's Settings.php

This file can be viewed in either your FTP or if the website is hosted on a cpanel or Plesk server you can use the online file manager.
Once you have opened the settings. php  file you need to look for the following
